Hello, my fellow Békéès. It’s a privilege to have you here, reading the story of how Békéè Haircare was born. This has always been a dream. It’s easy to dream. The hardest part comes when you wake up and realize you have to execute that dream.
That’s when fear creeps in and whispers, You’ll fail. No one will listen. No one will show up.
Then anxiety arrives, knocking at the door of your heart. The truth is, my dream was birthed from anxiety.
Anxiety stood beside me and questioned me. If I’m being honest, it still does sometimes. But one thing became clear: staying where I was submitting to fear and anxiety was never an option.
Determination. Godfidence. The willingness to keep going. Those became my stronghold. Fear showed up, but so did something else. I knew I was good at this hair thing. I knew I could do it. So underneath my fears, there was Békéè.
The Name That Feels Like Home
Every time I say the word Békéè, I feel a sense of pride not pride in myself, but in what I’m building and how far I’ve come.
I think about the support, the growth, the lessons, and every little milestone along the way.
But more than anything, I feel my mum. It’s almost like she’s close to me again, smiling as she used to, admiring my big, beautiful hair and calling me Onyinbékéè.
Mum, I’ve clocked it now. That name became more than a nickname.
It became a reminder that beauty isn’t just something we wear it’s something we nurture.
My Hair Was My First Teacher
Because of medications and being sick quite often, my hair had its own history a history of breakage.
Salon visits became familiar with strands of my hair scattered across the floor, and I grew tired of watching my hair tell a story I didn’t want anymore.
This year, I decided it wasn’t going to end that way. So I picked up my books. I researched during the day and stayed up at night learning everything I could. I studied ingredients, compared oils, and carefully chose what would become the heroes of my formulas. Then something unexpected happened.
During my NYSC camp in Gombe, I discovered palm kernel oil and learned how beneficial it could be for hair. It wasn’t part of the original plan, but it became part of my journey. So I tried it. And slowly, things started changing. A little trim here. A little adjustment there. Most importantly, I became my own test subject. I tested every ingredient individually. I watched how my hair responded.
I kept what worked and removed what didn’t. Eventually, after countless notes, tiny adjustments, and patient observation, the formula became what it is today. BÉKÉÈ.
The First Batch Changed Me
The first batch of Békéè wasn’t perfect. It was filled with excitement. It was filled with mistakes.
It introduced me to new discoveries, unexpected friendships, and lessons I couldn’t have learned any other way.
That first batch taught me that every setback carries an instruction if you’re willing to listen. Building Békéè has taught me patience. And if I’m being honest, patience has never been my strongest quality. But this journey keeps teaching me to trust my instincts, keep learning, and keep showing up even when the process feels slow.
Because growth doesn’t always happen loudly. Sometimes it happens quietly in jars of herbs slowly infusing, in late nights spent researching, and in choosing to believe one more time.
What I Hope You Feel
When you receive your Békéè package, I hope you feel the love I so easily have to give. I hope you feel joy when you open it. I hope you build a deeper connection with your hair. And I hope every time you massage that oil into your scalp or seal your strands with our butter, you remember that someone cared enough to spend weeks creating it.
The same warmth I felt whenever my mum called me Onyinbékéè is the warmth I hope reaches you through every bottle and every jar. Because Békéè has never just been about hair. It’s about care.
It’s about confidence. It’s about choosing growth, even when fear is still in the room.
From Onyinyechi, Founder of Békéè
Every bottle begins long before it reaches your hands. It begins with herbs, patience, late nights, research, and the belief that healthy hair deserves intentional care.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
With love,
Onyinyechi

Onyinyechi Ndukwe is the founder of Békéè Haircare and Nurturing Environments & Yielding Confidence (NEYC) Foundation. Her work is rooted in care, growth, and helping people feel confident in who they are.
Békéè grew from her own struggle with hair breakage and her decision to learn what healthy hair really needed. She spent countless hours researching herbs, oils, and ingredients, testing them on her own hair and learning along the way. Her discovery of palm kernel oil during NYSC camp in Gombe became an important part of that journey.
For Onyinyechi, Békéè is personal. It carries the memory of her mother, who called her “Onyinbékéè,” and reminds her that beauty is something we nurture.
